Beth grew up in the NW suburbs of Chicago and returned to the area shortly after completing her schooling to start her career and her family. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Science at The University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and attended The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where she earned her Masters of Arts degree in Communication Disorders.
She began working at Advocate Children's Hospital in Park Ridge (then, Lutheran General Children's Hospital) in 2004 and was a part of their pediatric speech therapy team for 12 years. As a Senior Speech-Language Pathologist and Speech Student Coordinator, she gained experience working with many different patients, professionals, and students. She regularly participated in clinic evaluations including their Medical Diagnostic Clinic, Down Syndrome Clinic, and NICU Follow-Up Clinic in addition to seeing patients with a diverse range of diagnoses and therapeutic needs.
In addition to seeing patients at the hospital during this time, Beth also worked part-time in a variety of therapeutic environments including schools, private clinics, and in-home settings in order to continue to hone her skills and gain experience outside of the hospital.
Once she had children of her own, she began to appreciate the advantages of in-home therapy even more. From a professional standpoint, the ability to work with a child and his/her parents in an immediately-comfortable and highly-functional environment led to more effective results. Likewise, from the standpoint of a parent, in-home therapy not only led to greater family involvement and communication, but it was also undeniably convenient for busy parents.
Beth understands and addresses the child's therapeutic needs, but also appreciates the needs of the parents and family. Having the opportunity to work personally with families in their homes, Beth has a broader perspective of therapy. This is also why she continues to create resources for families to learn together and connect socially, expanding options for supportive networking within the community.
